Description
In the remains of what was once North America now exists the nation of Panem, a land composed of an extravagant Capitol surrounded by twelve impoverished districts. Many years ago, these districts rebelled against the Capitol but were defeated. To remind them of their defeat and maintain control, the Capitol demands each district to annually select one boy and one girl as tributes, forcing them into a brutal televised competition known as “The Hunger Games,” where participants must fight until only one survives. When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to care for her mother and younger sister alone, is forced to become her district’s tribute, she sees her selection as nothing short of a death sentence. While the arena’s environment, the Games’ conditions, and the role of viewer interference may vary year by year, one deadly rule never changes: survive by killing others, or be killed yourself.
