Description
Just as the residents of Wilfred, Oregon, begin to enjoy a sense of calm, a series of anonymous poison pen letters shatters the peace. With private secrets laid bare, tensions rise—even as the town comes together to celebrate the success of the retreat and the grand opening of The Wallingford Guesthouse.
Librarian Josie Way, grateful for her growing magical abilities, soon realizes that her beloved spellbound books may hold the key to a troubling mystery. When her mother arrives unexpectedly, unusually quiet and guarded, Josie hopes to lighten the mood with a visit to the Aerie—the grand clifftop manor once home to the late Reverend Clarence Duffy. But inside the house, she hears whispers from the reverend’s old books, warning of danger. The next day, those warnings seem all too real when the townspeople begin receiving threatening letters.
Determined to uncover the author behind the unsettling messages, Josie becomes even more alarmed when one of Reverend Duffy’s sons is found dead at the base of the cliff. Friendships in Wilfred fracture under the weight of suspicion, and Josie’s own worries deepen when she learns the true reason for her mother’s visit.
Sheriff Sam dismisses the letters as pranks—until Josie finds one addressed to her. The mysterious writer claims to know her secret. With danger lurking and time running out, Josie must put her developing sorcery to the test. But uncovering the truth will require not only her own skills, but an unexpected source of magic, before another threat turns deadly.
