Jewel McKerry is barely holding it together as she returns to Oregon to care for her father, who is battling early-onset dementia. Her thirteen-year-old daughter is frustrated about the move, her dad—a devoted beekeeper—is as unpredictable as ever, and her mother is exhausted from trying to manage everything on her own. On top of it all, money is tight, and according to her father, the neighbors are nothing but trouble.

Determined to help her parents financially, Jewel persuades them to transform their aging farmhouse into a bed-and-breakfast. As renovations begin, her former high school sweetheart, now a contractor, steps in to assist—but Jewel isn’t sure if she can trust him. Meanwhile, the so-called difficult neighbors, a widower and his teenage daughter, may be exactly the allies she didn’t know she needed.

This summer promises to be full of challenges, unexpected friendships, and fresh starts—and maybe even a little love.
